Happy couple

The Bride

Fanny Terrones

I am an education policy graduate student by day, and a jedi master wookie by night. My pure awesomeness and unmatched physical strength is my weakness and my greatest strength. I love coffee, and enjoy experimenting with different latte flavor combinations. When I am not reading or stressing about school, I am running, hiking or exploring a museum. There is nothing I find more awkward than networking. Yes, the rumors are accurate, I will try to tackle or wrestle you (in a tender and kind chewbacca-like manner).

The Groom

Tyler Hartwig

Hi. I am your non conventional nerd who enjoys obsessing about computers, programming language design and meta-programming. I'm also a coffee and beer connoisseur - I will endlessly try to persuade you to drink these in their purest form. When I'm not obsessing with these, I'm probably at work trying to solve complex problems with niche software packages and solutions. Since it's unhealthy to stay inside all the time, I also enjoy going out to scuba dive, hike, or take our dogs to a local dog park. I will also unashamedly troll you with puns or Dad jokes.

Our love story

Our first meet

23 Aug 2014

Just like every other basic Baylor love story, we first met at a church fair annually organized by good ol' Baylor Baptist University. After being introduced by our pastor at the church fair, we awkwardly made eye contact and nodded at each other. Shortly thereafter a friendship developed that resulted in Calculus tutoring lessons.

Our first date

11 Jan 2015

After being apart over Christmas break, we were ready to have our first date at Common Grounds coffee shop. In an attempt to impress me, Fanny ordered the first thing she saw on the menu - two shots of espresso. I tried to pursuade her away from this by asking her if she knew what that was, but this only fueled her false confidence. After seeing the tiny cup served, she tried it and could not hide her expression of disgust. We sat on the classic swing bench at the front of the coffee shop and salvaged by sharing our drinks mixed together.

Proposal day

30 Jun 2019

If I had to describe the entire proposal in three words I would describe it as precise, thoughtful, and intimate. Expecting a margarita night with my friends, I was dropped off abruptly at our university. Tyler left a poster map that plotted every significant memory we had experienced together on campus and in Waco, TX. I followed the question mark that was plotted in the middle of the map to find Tyler standing under a large oak tree that he decorated with twinkling lights - it was absolutely enchanting. He explained every memory drawn on the map and asked me if I wanted to make a new memory. After proposing, a mariachi band serenaded us while we danced.

Engagement

17 Aug 2019

After living in separate cities for two years, we hit the road and (sadly) left the Republic of Texas. We moved to the DC area, creating a life together with Dairy and Reeses, establishing new friendships and a love for the city. We are excited to share our new home with you and celebrate our comittment to each other.
